Mail - Certificates

Note:
These instructions only apply to Landau identifiers!


Importing a personal certificate into Thunderbird

Note: Please apply for a user certificate beforehand, as described in the instructions here.

 

1. click on the context menu at the top right, then on Settings and on Account settings.

2. click on S/MIME security under the corresponding e-mail address and then on Manage certificates in the right-hand window to add a certificate.

3.first click on the Your certificates tab and then click on Import... at the bottom of the screen. at the bottom of the screen.

4. navigate to the target folder with the desired certificate, select the desired certificate and confirm by clicking on Open .

5. enter the password for the certificate in the following window and confirm with OK .

6. close the following window by clicking on OK .

7. the certificate is now displayed under Your certificates . The window can now be closed with OK .

8. to be able to integrate the certificate into emails, they must be selected for both the digital signature and for encryption with
by clicking on Select .

9. in the window that opens, select the imported certificate and confirm by clicking OK . For the digital signature, please select the option Sign messages digitally (as standard).

10. mails can now be encrypted by clicking on S/MIME . The signing of messages has already been preset in point 9
