Account - How do I set a password? How can I change my password?

Note:
These instructions only apply to Landau identifiers!


The security question is used to reset the password of an account. It is therefore important that the security question has been set for the account in advance.

 

The following section explains how to set the security question as an example:

1. log in at the address: https://idm.uni-landau.de

2.ATTENTION: Only the user ID and password are required to log in.

3. navigate to the "Password" tab:

4. define a security question and a contact email address under "Security question". A contact e-mail address is a private e-mail address.

Resetting the password

With the help of the IDM, it is now possible to reset the password automatically. However, the security question must be set for this.

1. click on "Send new password" on the IDM login page(https://idm.uni-landau.de).

2. in the following window, enter either the user ID or, alternatively, for students only, the matriculation number and surname. The security question must then be answered.

3. the system will now send an e-mail to the contact address provided with a temporary password. The password should be changed immediately.

 

 

Changing the password

Since the introduction of IDM, the password for the user ID can also be changed independently. All you have to do is set a new password in the Your password section of the Password tab. The rules for passwords on the right-hand side must be observed.

Note: If you have not yet created a security questionand entered a contact e-mail address, the URZ recommends doing this as soon as possible. This is the only way to reset the password!
